MLM (Multi Level Marketing, Network Marketing, Relationship Marketing, etc) is basically a good thing. It eliminates the middle men, sales go directly from the manufacturer to the member selling its benefits. Fact is that about ninety seven (97%) of those in MLM never make enough money to live on, certainly nowhere near the money that the three (3%) percent receive. Why, the majority of people who enter multi level marketing do so without any thought of becoming a professional; their eyes and hearts are looking at monies the three percent are making – which can be huge. They are told that everyone wants the product/service, so make a list of all your friends, family and everyone else they have met; then get those people to go with you to a meeting where the upline (mostly 3%ers) will get your visitors to sign up in your downline. You make money from your efforts and from the efforts of those in your downline. Makes good sense – seems like it is easy – after all these people you are inviting are people who trust you. If what you are told to do is so easy, and you bust your rear end to make it happen, why are there so many in the 97% group where I was an almost successful member for so many years? Yes, I write this to you from experience. Ann Seig finally broke out of this old method of creating a downline from a list she had developed of friends and family and cold calling strangers from lists she bought from list brokers. Much like my efforts, she made some money, but really wasn’t better off than when she started, what with expenses of meetings, lunches, drinks, etc., payments to list brokers and other advertising expenses. She broke the mold and found ways to build her downline with people who contacted her for information on how to succeed with multi level marketing. Ann showed them how they could become more professional in their endeavors by using the internet to build a downline that could duplicate her internet experience.
