Social Security Problems

Social Security problems have led to a horrendous backlog for those disabled people who are trying to get disability pay. I have several friends who are really disabled, but are having no success in dealing with these administration problems. Some have hired attorneys to assist in their efforts to get deserved payments.

On the flip side, this agency’s failure to catch up on its review of medical backlogs sends benefits to many people who are no longer disabled. This Social Security problem combined with those who cheat by keeping quite about their medical problems; are potentially costing up to eleven ($11) billion dollars annually.

The agency’s failure to tackle those pending disability reviews allow tens of thousands of undeserving people to bleed government funds that should be going to people who are really disabled and who have been trying for months to get financial relief.

Rick Warsinskey, past president of the association representing Social Security’s field managers said: “There’s going to be less money available to pay people their Social Security. We’re setting aside money for them … it’s going to be spent.”

Federal law requires Social Security to periodically evaluate the status of the 7.3 million people who draw checks from its Disability Insurance Trust Fund and the 4 million disabled adults who are also paid Supplemental Security Income from the Treasury.

Yes the 1.7 million people in the U.S. who have not reported recovery from a disability, yet who cash their monthly check for a non-existing disability are cheating the government.

Ask yourself what you would do in these same circumstances. It is a difficult question to honorably answer, especially in this time of a financial upheaval. I wasn’t proud of my initial answer.
